Memorial Day Barbeque

On the evening of 30 May, approximately 40 cove residents and 25 children gathered in the Woodlow Court cul-de-sac for our annual Memorial Day barbeque. The weather was perfect for an out door party, just another day in paradise. From 5:00 to 6:00, we had a social hour. We munched on chips and salsa, and consumed mass quantities of Mike Stark's world famous margaritas. Music played from a portable sound system. We sat around and socialized with our friends and neighbors while the kids rode their bikes, and just played in the cul-de-sac. It was truly and enjoyable time

There were games and prizes for the children time. Nine teams ranging from grade school to high school participated. Then there was a pinata contest for the younger kids. They flailed away with a bat until the pinata burst and candy scattered all over the street.

At about 6:30, the grills were fired up and Charlie Tennant cooked up the hot dogs and cheeseburgers. Buns and condiments were available along with baked beans and salad. The kids went through the line like a plague of locusts, followed by the adults. Soft drinks were available along with the ubiquitous margaritas.

It was well after dark when the party broke up and people took their children home. Everyone is looking forward to our next event, the outdoor movie night in August.
